For the soon-to-open concept Dewey’s Cafe, I developed a brand identity designed to feel design-forward, warm, and distinct within the Chicago cafe landscape. The suite begins with a custom Dewey’s Cafe wordmark, which is approachable yet refined and crafted to feel timeless without leaning nostalgic. Supporting the primary mark, I illustrated a signature dog logo that serves as the brand’s personality anchor: character-driven but elevated, swapping whimsy for confident charm. I also designed a hybrid icon-monogram that merges the dog illustration with the “D” from the wordmark, creating interaction and forming a flexible brand stamp ideal for cups, signage, socials, and merch. The identity is reinforced through a thoughfully chosen color palette built for in-person application as well as packaging, alongside a curated typography system that balances editorial presence with everyday legibility. Together, the elements establish Dewey’s Cafe as a cohesive, brand — suited for storefront signage, menus, digital spaces, and future extensions.
